AmBient FAQ

What type of product is AmBient?

It’s a sample pack. This is a digital folder containing sounds for you to use in your music making. It is not a physical product.

What do I use these samples for?

Loops are great to help start an idea for a track or to compliment something you’re already working on. You can use them as they come, or chop them up, mangle them or use specific pieces.

Stems are the individual parts of a loop, so you can mix them yourself or isolate/remove certain parts.

One shots are single notes or strikes - these are great from throwing into a sampler like Quick Sample in Logic or Simpler in Ableton and performing into your track with a keyboard.

Can I use these sounds in music I release commercially?

Yes! All of the samples included are 100% royalty free.

How will I receive AmBient?

Once you’ve paid at the checkout, you’ll see a link to ‘Download’. Click this to download your files. Unzip the folder and you’re ready to access and use the samples inside.

You’ll also receive an email with a download link.

Can I use AmBient to make and sell my own sample pack?

No - just for inclusion in your music projects.

What is your refund policy?

You are entitled to a refund if you contact Song Athletics within 14 days of your order and have not downloaded the product. However, we typically do not offer refunds once the product has been downloaded. That said, Song Athletics will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis, and our determination will be final.

What is Song Athletics?

We are an independent creative studio, with a focus on music, technology and culture.

We make products for music creators, take part in collaborative projects with artists and institutions, and create content that showcases the community.

Song Athletics is a purposely small and creator-owned ‘slow business’. All decisions are made with a long-term view, aiming to create a sustainable ecosystem that generates revenue to fuel continued artistic exploration. There is no end in sight; it’s a vehicle to enable taking part in cultural innovation for as long as possible.

Our approach to products is to be simple and refined. This reflects how we use them. If you want lots of control and features, other people do much better.

Song Athletics’ founder Will Evans has worked in music technology and the arts for over 20 years.

Following an undergraduate degree in Acoustical Engineering, Will attained a PhD in Psychoacoustics at the University of Surrey in conjunction with Bang & Olufsen. He taught Electroacoustics on the Tonmeister course before joining Focusrite, where he led the Artist, Brand and Media Relations function.

In 2016 he joined Spitfire Audio and soon became CEO, overseeing the revolution of a small startup to a grown-up company with over +100 employees.  Alongside this, Will Evans had founded a small record label and management company and had been an intern at Warp Records. His passion for independently-minded studio drawing on his combined interest in music, technology and sustainable business led to the formation of Song Athletics.
