A rich and vibrant sample pack of uniquely curated percussion loops and one shots, Alt Perc Feugo draws inspiration from the drum sounds of Cuba, expressed through a lens of broader global influence. Performed by classically-trained percussionist turned producer/composer/ethnomusicologist Magnus Mehta (Jacob Collier, Brian Eno, Damon Albarn, Moses Boyd, Penya), the pack centres around Cuban instruments such as Congas, Bata, Timbale, Cajon, Bongo, Shekere, Maraca, Clave, Bells, Blocks, Bombo, Cata and Pans, but with additional non-Cuban instruments - notably the Nigerian Bass Udu and Calabash, the South Indian Ghatam, and an array of shakers and high pitched sounds from Brazil, and different regions of Africa. This is an attractive, accessible and useful collection for people who have perhaps not listened to much Cuban music, whilst simultaneously trying to be faithful to their roots.
